Thyroid

Located in at the front of the neck.

Made up of thyroid follicles, stimulated by Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH).

They release two hormones:

Thyroxine, tetraiodothyronine or T4.

Triiodothyronine or T3.

Regulates five things:

Basal metabolic rate

Protein synthesis

Catecholamine

Body growth

Sodium - Potassium pump regulation that has calorigenic effect
