The Spine

The spine is made of vertebrae.

There are 26 unseparated vertebrae in total. Some of the bones below have fused, so there are 33 before fusing.

Cervical vertebrae - 7

Thoracic vertebrae - 12

Lumbar vertebrae - 5

Sacral vertebrae - 5

Coccygeal vertebrae - 4

Each vertebra is counted FROM THE TOP starting at 1, so T8 refers to the eigth vertebra down of the thoracic vertebrae.
